The Alford Memorial Radio Club was established in 1973 to provide amateur radio operators in the area an opportunity to learn, communicate and provide community service.  

The Alford Memorial Radio Club is Atlanta's premier Amateur Radio club. The AMRC is 501c(4) non-profit organization and an ARRL Special Service Club that provides many communication and educational services to the entire Atlanta community. They also provide emergency support with the DeKalb County ARES group and offer CaVEc sposored Amateur Radio licensing test sessions.

The club's flagship repeater, 146.760, was the first 2m repeater in the Atlanta area and is positioned on top of Stone Mountain, Atlanta's famous landmark. The AMRC also sponsors three other W4BOC repeaters operating on the frequencies of 145.450, 224.760, 444.250, and DMR 441.8125.

Our club hosts the largest Hamfest in Georgia. This year, 2026, the hamfest will be on October 30th and 31st which is a Friday and Saturday. The Hamfest is known as the Stone Mountain Hamfest and is held at the Lawrenceville, GA Fairgrounds on Sugarloaf Parkway.
