Born from a single Henderson repeater on 446.825 MHz, it’s grown into one of the most unapologetically alive ham radio communities in Nevada, stretching across 2m, 440, and 900 MHz, and linking Las Vegas to Buffalo, the Philippines, and beyond through AllStar Link.

But here’s the thing: our repeaters are just the backdrop. The real story is the people. The BBQs, the road trips, the holidays, the friendships. We just happen to also be really good at RF — and we’ve made the right connections to drop our repeaters in all the right places. The result? A network that works because the people behind it do.

What started as a handful of hams has become a family.

Membership in the Sin City Repeater Group (SCRG) is a privilege, not a right. The Group is a selective association of repeater owners, builders, and operators who uphold the highest standards of amateur radio under FCC Part 97. Admission is limited to individuals of proven character, technical ability, and personal commitment. Governance of the Group is reserved for those who invest significant tangible resources — financial, technical, or both — in sustaining and expanding the repeater infrastructure upon which the community depends.

Eligibility and Sponsorship

Membership is by invitation only. A prospective member must be:

1. Sponsored by one current member in good standing, and
2. Seconded by another member who attests to the applicant’s character, technical competence, and commitment to good amateur practice.

The Sin City Repeater Group is a private membership association. Admission is selective, participation is a privilege, and nothing in these policies shall be construed to classify the Group as a public accommodation.

Repeater System Access

SCRG repeaters are a closed system. Access is a privilege, not a right, and may be revoked at any time by SCRG or the individual trustee under FCC Part 97.205(e). One does not need to be a member to request access to SCRG affiliated. Repeater use is open to all provided the user is duly licensed, hasn’t been banned, and intends to operate in fidelity with the Code of Conduct- simply make the request to use the machine.

Conduct unbecoming includes, but is not limited to:

• Intentional interference or harassment;
• Discriminatory or abusive language, including mocking individuals for foreign accents or cultural differences;
• Unauthorized linking or modification of equipment;
• Operating while intoxicated or under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or controlled substances;
• Criminal, terroristic, or insurrectionary activity; or
• Any behavior that reflects poorly on the amateur service or SCRG.

Pursuant to FCC Part 97.205(e), all decisions on repeater access are final and not subject to appeal. By transmitting on any SCRG-affiliated repeater, operators automatically consent to these terms. Loss of repeater privileges shall not entitle any member to a refund of dues or assessments.

ARRL Membership

The Sin City Repeater Group is actively pursuing affiliation with the American Radio Relay League (ARRL). In anticipation of this partnership, the Group has adopted ARRL’s membership standards: at least 51% of our voting members shall be both licensed amateurs and ARRL members. Beyond this requirement, we actively strive for 100% ARRL membership among our voting members as a demonstration of our commitment to the amateur radio service and its national association.”
